Summer goal #1.

Holy guacamole, where did my summer dash off to? It has been ridiculously hot here in good old KC and I feel maybe I spent most of it indoors whining about the heat. I realized I had made a few goals for this summer; now I'm wondering if I actually accomplished them!

1. Read more.

Summer Reading

(1. Bossypants by Tina Fey 2. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins 3. Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul by John & Stasi Eldredge 4. Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann)

Yes. I dare say I did read some books in the last few weeks. I come to highly recommend Valley of the Dolls. It was written in the sixties, and I don't know many woman anymore who aren't somewhat absorbed with the eras we weren't even alive for. This is a fantastic book and it's extraordinarily frustrating. Read it. The other three can probably go without saying, but I'd give those a read too. The library has been very good to me this summer.

PS: I do find it hi-lar-ious that I, so far, have only used Polyvore to make book collaborations. No clothing whatsoever.

Summer Goals

So, Elsie asked on her blog for everyone's summer goals and that got me thinking about mine. I didn't think I had any until I really started thinking about it!

Be outside!

Eat LOTS of ice cream/fro-yo!

CREATE MORE!

PS: I do promise I know how to use a camera other than the one on my iPhone! And while all these photos are from last year, I can't wait to add more from this summer.

Just call us HGTV

For last week being as chaotic as it was, it really only centered around one main theme: our yard. Landscaping is a nightmare, a true terror. We have owned our home for three years and it has taken us this long to finally get around to making the place look like we care about it (weeds man, I'm telling you... evil.) However, we (and by "we" I mean Brian) are done with all the big stuff for the year, now it's just maintenance (that one will be me). And that's what this last week in pictures has been. Our yard.

With that said, I really love our yard. Missouri, you can officially turn on the summer.

Song-Crush (belated) Saturday

This summer is going to be a busy one. I have lots of plans and not enough hours in the day--it has been one of those weeks! All week I have been playing Meg & Dia in my head thanks to The Voice and Dia's presence on there. I watched the show when it first started, but as soon as Dia popped up I about lost myself. I've definitely been a Meg & Dia fan for several years, so this has made my Tuesday nights more enjoyable! In honor of Dia getting so far on the show, I wanted to share one of my favorite songs. They are amazing lyricists and too smart for their own good.

Happy Sunday, have a great week!

Birds of a feather... and all that

I'm pretty sure there is a family of birds living in our chimney. While we have that "gate" of sorts to prevent this from happening, I think there may be some ninja birdies taking residence up there. I've never talked about it much, but I love birds. So this has had me creeping around the internet looking up bird inspiration.

Bahaha! How cute is that fluffy guy?! I hope my birds look like that. Xoxo

Weekend Recap

What a chaotic weekend! It is officially the start of wedding season. And I think there's no better way to recap my last week/weekend than through pictures!

Brian met me for a lunch date on Friday before he headed out of town. We were happy to see one another... then sad.

All this rain has made my yard spring to life!

My friend was having a problem drawing a bike. I gave it a try.

Hi.

We saw an old VW on the way to wedding #2. We got excited.

Ha.

Club 1000 in Kansas City. Wedding & Reception.

How cute are these? Where to sit and party favors!

Egads. Blogger has got some new way of uploading photos that I am just not familiar with tonight! This took me far too long. I think I've been working on this post all day.

Happy Monday and all that. It's time for this girl to make her way to the sheets.

Song-Crush Saturday

My driving routine has been slightly skewed these past few days. Brian had to take my car out of town for a wedding to get better gas mileage while I've been left with his mondo-SUV with no air-conditioning PLUS window that doesn't roll down. Yowza yowza, it is hot. It is 92 degrees right now.

BUT--thankfully if I crank the radio up high enough with songs I can sing along with, it seems to distract me from the fact that I'm sweating to death in a mobile sauna.

My song I can't stop singing this week is "Sweet and Low" by Augustana. I love rediscovering bands that I used to love. The lead singer's voice is so sweet and puts me in a fantastic mood. Hope you enjoy!
